In today’s world, it is a business imperative to have a digital mindset. The Google Tuck Digital Excellence Program is a collaboration between the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and Google’s Supplier Diversity and Inclusion team to provide diverse business owners with the tools, strategies, and resources to help grow their businesses online. The program has been running for nearly five years, and our CEO, Montina Young Portis, was part of the ninth class.
Participants covered a curriculum designed by academic experts, industry leaders, and Google specialists. Sessions like Constructing a Digital Strategy, delivered by Dr. Alva Taylor, Faculty Director for Tuck’s Center for Digital Strategies, taught attendees how to effectively create a digital footprint. A session led by Google Mobile Strategy experts explored how mobile can impact a company’s value proposition. Participants heard from current Google suppliers and Tuck alumni who discussed live examples of the impact of digital on their businesses.
Although Montina runs a successful Video Production and Creative Marketing Agency, she’s always looking for opportunities to learn and catch up on the latest trends. “A few weeks ago, I received an email from Google inviting me to apply for a program. A few weeks later, I was accepted into the program with a full sponsorship from Google. I’m excited to share what I learned with my team and clients.”
Digital Excellence for Minority Entrepreneurs is a collaboration with Google that helps diverse business leaders leverage cutting-edge digital technologies. She left the program excited to apply new skills to her clients’ digital strategies.
A few quotes from her class included:
“You can’t build a digital strategy and stop!”
“You must be digitally capable.”
“Digital impacts ALL aspects of your business.”
“Having a digital mindset should impact everything.”
“Every company should think of itself as a digital company.”
