“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” – Tony Robbins

Yesterday I had a very interesting call with a prospective attorney client. After they shared their goals, their 3 other businesses (yes, 3), the reason why their site was 18 years old and never had an update and why they didn’t believe in social media I knew they weren’t a good fit.

I politely stated we wouldn’t be a good fit.

Everyone is NOT your ideal client and once you understand that, you’ll stop trying to force them to fit into your mold.

They were happy I didn’t attempt to sell them services they didn’t need and there was an opportunity for me to speak at an upcoming event.

If you’re shopping around for a marketing company, make sure they’re listening to your needs and not just trying to pitch you their services.

They should start with an overall discovery session that includes strategy. You can’t build a marketing plan without starting with a strategy. Then, make sure they deliver.

Then, be sure to hold them accountable and make sure they know what they are doing.
